Henry V

Kenneth Branagh brought his own Shakespearean filmmaking to this Marvel origin story, specifically the approach he used in his Henry V (1989). The family tragedy of Asgard, brothers, fathers, the corruption of power, plays like Shakespeare. Branagh understood that superhero narratives are modern mythology, and mythology speaks the language of tragedy. Royal court intrigue became the architecture of a god's fall.
