Losey... has cited Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville (1965) and Federico Fellini’s 8½ (1963) as key influences on Modesty Blaise. He was particularly taken with the former’s blending of sci-fi with film noir, and the latter’s surrealist playfulness.
