A Separation
Films that shaped it

When I first saw Where Is the Friend’s House? in the beginning of my career, I was very affected by it. It showed me a whole other way of portraying reality.

The Decalogue, for me, is extremely important. It's a film which I have seen many times and every time I learn something new. Especially the way he looks at human beings and their dilemmas without judging them. This is something that I always try to achieve in my own films.

I was very influenced by Asghar Farhadi, and that comes out in the film. His films are extremely complex and always play on the idea that there is no bad guy or good guy, but characters with different interpretations of the truth... I wanted to create a narrative that would question the very nature of truth. This is something Farhadi does very well.
