The Hateful Eight

The Hateful Eight, as well as a few other movies, were definitely inspired by Navajo Joe. I had the Ennio Morricone score for Navajo Joe that I would play to get into the mood when I was writing Hateful Eight, and some of the themes from that score ended up in the first trailer for Hateful Eight. So it’s definitely a source of inspiration.

The two most influential snow westerns that I'm aware of are The Great Silence and Day of Anger. I remember saying to myself, I'd like to do a snow western. And that's what The Hateful Eight is.
