I watched 'Once Upon A Time In The West' again before shooting, just to see how to use close-ups to create tension.

I’m also very much an admirer of Antonioni’s Blow-Up, which is also a film where the main character is trying to see things more clearly. I think my films contain a lot of such characters, who have this obsession with seeing, with finding out the truth.

I also told them to watch 'Rosemary's Baby' and 'The Shining' to get a sense of discomfort in the atmosphere, creating suspense through the characters, rather than just scary monsters and jump scares.
