Code Unknown
Films it shaped

Haneke has been a very important director for me... [I] counts Code Unknown and The Piano Teacher among his favourites. He has an ability to create an uneasy feeling in the audience, which is something I always try to do.

Kubrick, Haneke (Code Unknown was a big one for me), Lars von Trier, Robert Bresson, Roy Andersson, Gaspar Noe, Park Chan-wook, David Cronenberg, Woody Allen, Noah Baumbach, etc.

Code Unknown really had an impact on me. The structural elements of that film, how you come back to characters, the idea of having different chapters of people’s lives and being dropped into their day, that film did it in such an amazing way. And it’s a Haneke film, so there's obviously a lot of tension and a great deal of discomfort... We try to achieve a little bit of that.
